A Pax Christi Sister is a prayerful, mature, stable; yet flexible virtuous woman. From her, overflows redeeming Peace which is other centered, gentle, compassionate, and forgiving. She is a humble woman of vision who has a listening heart always responsive to the Father’s will, her vision of spreading the Good News of Peace to all mankind is constantly before her as she, through her life of prayer and service, is a living witness of Jesus Christ our Peace.
As a community founded in faith, we recognized that community life and prayer are the essential expressions and source of our life. Prayer nourishes our faith and encourages us to bring our contemplation in love. Community life proclaims the reality that love of neighbor is indeed possible. It expresses our desire to witness to our oneness with God and with each other in the love of Christ.
The Sisters begin their day with the prayer of the Divinie Office in community, followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass . During the day, each Sister spends one hour adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. In the evening, the Sisters pray the Divinie Office and the Holy Rosary.
Before they retire for the day, the Sister meditate on the Word of God, reading the Bible.
A daily prayer throughout her life as a Pax Christi member, which she should live by, recite in prayers, and share with others:
"Jesus lives in me, I live in Jesus,Jesus and I are One."
The Charism of the Pax Christi Sisters, a Religious Community that is contemplative-apostolic,
is to serve as an enabling instrument of peace which leads each member in the pursuit of the attainment of Perfect love, oneness with God.
"Woman of God that you are, seek after integrity, piety, faith, love, steadfastness, and a gentle spirit."
Timothy 6:11
The Pax Christi Sisters were founded by Mother Teresa Santoyo, PCI
in the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas on July 19th, 1969.
In His merciful goodness, God gave our Mother Foundress, Mother Teresa Santoyo, the gift of our Pax Christi Spirituality
which is that of
"Oneness"
based on the Gospel of St. John.
"As you Father are in me, and I in you;
I pray that they may be one in us."
John 17:21
